I have a considerably older gaming machine. A core 2 duo, with 8 gigs of ram and a 512 Nvidia video card, and I have yet to run across a PC game I cant play.
I cant do DX 11 but I have yet to see any game I actually needed DX 11. At this point i think my machine would cost you 300.
The only thing id really be worried about is the motherboard too. Id drop the extra 50-100 for a better MB. But honestly hes right you dont need any more than 8 gigs of ram. Nothing actually requires it, and its just overkill.

also I am curious about your argument for WoW not releasing membership totals. Their are SOOO many articles with specific numbers over the years regarding their change in memberships. If those numbers arent public where are all these articles?
My opinions on Warcraft are entirely based on my personal experience of several of my friends dropping WOW like the bad habit that it is.
That said, my new gaming cpu is gonna be SWEET!
