PoDKast Show #0012: You’re such a Knucklehead …

Published by Switch in poDKast on September 24th, 2009

“This week, the Kids wade through tattered memories of childhood programming and drink. Then discuss rhythm games, and drink. Really, we mostly just drink. Thanks a lot, Peter Moore … or Michael Moore … or Roger Moore … or somebody. Whatever. Where’s my pants?”

WARNING: EXPLICIT (that means we say bad words sometimes)

  1. Tombstone says:

Tayo, your justification is at hand!

“W” IS a vowel, although it is not used as a vowel by itself in any modern English word. Instead it is used as part of a dipthong (two vowels that run together to make a sound). So the “w” in “brown”, “lawn”, “blow”, “blew”, and “two”. It’s considered a consonant when at the beginning of a syllable, like “whack” or “always”. Boo-yah! Score one for the English majors!

  2. Doxy says:

Nobody ever believes me when I explain this whole “W” as a vowel thing.

So I’m actually finally hearing this episode now. The infrared NES controller is called the U-Force. I loved that thing, but I was young as hell when it came out. I still have mine in a box somewhere. I’m hoping it’ll resurface when I finish moving and get gaming stuff set up.
